William Booth College

William Booth College is a training facility used by members of the Salvation Army from all over the world, the college buildings are grade 2 listed, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Originally opened in 1929 the site has been extensively refurbished. Cole Jarman advised on the sound insulation to the residential elements and treatments to provide suitable room acoustics in a range of different spaces on the campus.

The centrepiece is the concert hall, which suffered from excessive low frequency reverberation. Sympathetic treatments were introduced to maintain the aesthetic appearance but optimise the acoustic conditions. The result has been well received from the many generations of hall users, and the facility is now fit for the 21st century, including use for multi-media live broadcasts.
