We were briefed to carry out a detailed assessment of noise breakout from the existing ballroom, as well as a review of noise emission from a new dry cooler installation. A detailed investigation of noise transmission from the ballroom to certain guestrooms was carried out during functions.

Extensive sound insulation testing was performed and recommendations were developed for improving the sound insulation to various areas of the existing building. As part of a future programme of refurbishment, an environmental noise survey was carried out, and an assessment of a proposed new cooling plant installation undertaken against strict local authority criteria.
