Stratford Ground-borne Noise

Lantana Heights is a high-rise block of flats located close to the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, London. The building is adjacent to railway tracks serving nearby Stratford International Station and others. The residents of ground floor flat number 2 had complained to the construction/management company for the building, Lendlease, that trains passing on the nearby lines could be distinctly heard/felt inside the flat.

Lendlease commissioned RSK to measure noise and vibration associated with the passing trains inside the flat. The testing used two combined noise and vibration monitors left unattended inside the flat for 24 hours to test for groundborne noise against the LASmax criteria given as a planning condition for the building.
