Howe Dell Primary School

Full acoustic design in compliance with BB93 for this landmark sustainable school on a site that previously formed part of Hatfield Aerodrome. Advice was provided on space planning and layout and on the sound insulation performance of the external building fabric, internal partitioning and doors. Room acoustics design provided optimum teaching conditions whilst allowing for the presence of an exposed concrete soffit for thermal massing.

A detailed environmental impact assessment was also undertaken to assist in obtaining planning permission for the school’s 25 kW wind turbine. Throughout progress of the successful application, negotiations were carried out with the local planning authority on noise issues and conditions.
