The London Printworks for the Daily Mail and Evening Standard was built in the late 1980’s. The site was surrounded by commercial users, such that there were no residences within around 150m.
However two developers proposed adjacent residential developments (totalling over 700 dwellings) both of which went to public inquiry in 2004-2005.
Acting on behalf of Harmsworth Quays who were a “Rule 6” party at both inquiries, evidence was presented regarding the impact of noise from the site upon the proposed residences. Both applications were refused with noise being a major issue. Subsequent submissions have lead to the appearance at UDP hearings.
