Cole Jarman took part in the 2016 Acoustics Cup charity 5-a-side tournament in June, looking to improve on some disappointing results in previous years. The team couldn’t have made a better start, winning the opener against hosts Campbell Associates after racing into a 3-0 lead early in the first half courtesy of two trademark clinical finishes from Lee Montague, with Adam Sharpe showing a cool head to add the third on his Acoustics Cup debut. Riding a wave of euphoria after the first game, concentration suffered at times through the other two group games resulting in a third place finish in the group and safe passage to the plate quarter-final.
The team dominated the quarter final, taking the lead thanks to a Ben Harper effort in a first half full of chances for Cole Jarman. Failing to capitalise on the multiple openings created was ultimately costly, and after a very softly awarded penalty for the opposition was converted, the full time whistle came too quickly for CJ and a penalty shoot-out awaited. Despite one save in the shootout from Managing Director Philip Hankin in goal, Cole Jarman were knocked out 2-1.
Many thanks to Campbell Associates as ever for organising the tournament, this year in aid of Alzheimer’s Society
